Hello to all and Happy Holidays. New Years Day is Here. 2026 Club–Boys and Girls Season Here.

 

Salness Notes. I started my club 27 years ago. Goals. 

1. Every kid plays in every game

2. Encourage multi-sport athletes. Nothing has changed from those. I always work with all the teams and coach all the teams when it works. It is my dream and my club. This year I will be taking a small step back for a few months. On Dec 24 I admitted myself into the hospital for issues with my heart and heard valves. I had surgery on Dec 24–Open heart surgery. I now have 4 by-passes. I was discharged Dec 29. My heart is fixed and now in the recovery program. I will start to return soon and go back to my normal coaching at practice and games.  That Said, it is  now time to get started with 2026 Volleyball season

14s Girls: 

The church has confirmed our regular practice time for Jan-April 2026. Practices will be Sundays from 4-5:30pm. The first practice will be Jan 4th 4-5:30pm at Prince of Peace Church. Coaches and Salness will be there to answer questions and make sure all are informed on plans for the season.

 

18s & 16s TEAMS:

Every player has now been added to their team on Team Snap—any parent emails that were included in tryout registration were automatically added as well. If any players cannot access Team Snap please talk to Coach Erica for help.

Practice and tournament dates/times are updated in the app regularly. Tournament locations, facility policies, and schedules for play are added for each team as soon as we have confirmation for them. 

All players need to complete Junior Reffing training on Sports Engine during the winter break. You can access it through the USA VB academy after you log in to your sports engine account. Every player shares in the team’s reffing responsibilities. Every player should expect to take a turn being R2, Score book, line judge, and libero tracker at tournaments. Players should text their coach after completing all tests.

Club Goals & Philosophy:

This year we anticipate having:

Investment: Club Cost is $1900. $700 is due at the mandatory parent meeting once tryouts have concluded. 

 

Practices: Prince of Peace church on Cornell on Tuesday and Thursdays with time slots of 4-5:30, 5:30-7, 7-8:30. Practice times depend on coaches ability to be at practice and when kids get out of school.

 

Playing Time: We aim for every player to play in every set/match. We believe that if you are going to pay you should play in every set/match.              *Exception if the match goes to a 3rd and deciding set the coach is able to just play the players who are playing the best. When we run out of subs then the coach will leave players in the game who are playing the best. 

 

All Questions about the program or teams or playing time ALL come to Coach Salness who is the director and founder of ABC Apollo (26 years). The coach's job is to coach the kids. Salness's job is that of setting guidelines/policies and how the program runs. 

 

Tournaments: The goal is for every team to play in 2 tournaments a month (power league and a friendship tourney). After tryouts we begin practices on Tuesdays & Thursdays each week with the exception of taking time off for Thanksgiving and Christmas break. Power league runs January through April, with regionals ending the season late April or early May. 

We plan for each team to play in at least 1 travel overnight 2-3 day tourney. We are willing to add more but only if the team and parents request that.  The goal is to keep costs down. Base cost for the season is $1900, any travel/hotel costs extra. When we do travel we suggest that the parents and players stay as a family (supervision and to help cut costs).

Attendance Policy: ABC Apollo has always supported multi-sport athletes. If the player has a direct conflict with school Basketball, Track, Cross County (etc), they will still play in every set and match. We just need to know what sport and what season at tryouts. We can’t have 6 softball players on one team. ​​​​
